The Fourth Annual Covenant Kids Holiday Door Decorating Contest

Welcome to The Fourth Annual Covenant Kids Holiday Door Decorating Contest, or TFACKHDDC for short.  For each of the past four years, Covenant Kids staff members have engaged in the time honored office Holiday tradition of door decorating combined with a little good-natured competitive spirit.

And the winners are . . .

We wanted to take a moment to say thank you for participating in our Fourth Annual Covenant Kids Holiday Door Decorating Contest.  We had an overwhelming response to our general call for votes and after compiling and tabulating we are prepared to announce the winners.  We thought you might like to know which doors received our prizes. Right now, today, there are more than 6,000 Texas Kids placed in temporary housing (foster homes) whose legal parent is the State of Texas.  They are our “Waiting Kids”; Kids who want nothing more this Christmas, this New Years Day, this upcoming Valentine’s Day, etc . . . than the safety, security, and certainty that a Forever Family represents.

While the vast majority of our friends, family, and neighbors are concerning themselves with pie recipes, the current trend in Christmas cards, finding the perfect secret Santa gifts, and coveting those “fortunate” enough to afford lavish purchases for their loved ones . . . Our Waiting Kids want love, acceptance, confirmation of their value.  While the rest of us are debating whether Auntie Smith will be more thrilled with the red sweater or the blue sweater, our Waiting Kids are contemplating why no adult is willing to make a lifelong commitment to parent them and debating what that means about their worth and purpose for living.

Our Waiting Kids are stuck in a system that by its very design and purpose is temporary.  Our Norman Rockwall Christmas expectations of children whose only concern is staying up late to catch a glimpse of Santa and falling to sleep with visions of sugar plums dancing in their dreams is not our Waiting Kids reality; imagine today, December 19, 2012 with only 6 more days until Christmas, being 10 years old and not being able to say with certainty where you will fall asleep Christmas Eve, falling asleep wondering why all of your classmates were so concerned with the type of toy their parents were going to give thinking to themselves, “At least you have a Mom.”  Imagine going to sleep Christmas Eve and all you want is a parent, a home, a family and to experience deep down in your bones that you are loved and that come what may, you are not alone.

You have the power to make their truest Christmas wish reality.  This year, today give the donation that your heart is calling you to give.  Give Today by clicking on the image below or typing in http://www.adopttexaskids.org/donate-now/ into your browser.

Donate Now

Your donation to our Waiting Kids will be used to find parents and families and to equip them with the tools that they will need to help our Waiting Kids overcome and cope with the emotional and physical scars left-over from their previous lives.

Your donation will be used to match our Waiting Kids with their Forever Families.

Your donation will allow our Waiting Kids to entertain visions of sugar plums in their dreams instead of thoughts no child should have to consider.

Covenant Kids is a 501(c)(3) non-profit adoption and foster care agency serving children, youth, young adults, and families in Texas.  All donations are tax deductible.

Thank you for giving to our Waiting Kids!

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
